Cairns is a diverse tropical land teaming with natural beauty and wildlife. The warm, pure waters of the Great Barrier Reef and coastline possess a great number of beautiful beaches. Or for an inner city oasis there is the Esplanade Swimming Lagoon on the sea waters edge of Cairns city.
The waters of course are ideal for snorkelling and diving which you can learn all about at a company called reef teach. There are a number of places that showcase the wildlife indicative of Far North Queensland including the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, Birdworld, Cairns Wild World Tropical Zoo and Hartleys Crocodile Adventure.
Just out of Cairns a little place called Lake Placid has a variety of activities such as swimming, fishing, canoeing, cycling and BBQing.
