Clifton Beach

Lying along the World Heritage Zone rain forest and the waters of the Great Barrier Reef is the tropical beach town of Clifton Beach. A stroll to the northern side of the beach takes the tourist to Palm Cove; a thirty-minute drive from the beach is the capital city of Cairns. The guest may not find the common scenes normally found in a beach, however, Clifton beach is still a  stylish vacation spot. Swimming enclosures are placed around Clifton Beach during the summer months to protect swimmers from the risks of being stung by a jellyfish.

Tourists can engage in several activities that can surely make their trip to Clifton Beach a satisfying one. The site provides several venues to go bungee jumping. The AJ Hackett Bungee Tower is reputed to be the best bungee jumping site in the world. It provides amenities and equipment that are unavailable in other bungee sites in the world. The tourist must be sure to take all the necessary precautions when bungee jumping. On the other hand, the more subtle type of tourist can try to practice his swing at the Cairns Golf Course. Complete with a clubhouse, the course is a par 72 championship caliber course that provides complete facilities to its members. In addition, they can indulge in poker, pool or attend social gatherings.

The Skyrail Rain forest Cableway is regarded as the most preferred tourist attraction in North Queensland. This gondola ride takes tourists on a journey to the mountain village of Kuranda. Along the way, one will be amazed at the scenic view of huge waterfalls and gorges. The captivating ride in the world's longest gondola route extends for 7.5 kilometers atop the rain forest of the region. The attraction operates from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Among the many attractions in Clifton Beach is the Cairns Tropical Zoo, previously called the Wild World. The zoo houses a wide array of Australian animals from kangaroos to cockatoos. Set in 15 acres of tropical gardens, the zoo provides a fun experience not only for kids but also adults. The Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, on the other hand, is nestled at the foot of the Skyrail route. Guests will be treated to the aboriginal culture of Australia through songs and dances. The cultural park lies on a 25-acre piece of land and uses a combination of theater and technology.

Getting to Clifton Beach

Getting to and from Clifton Beach is quite accessible. Sunbus, Cairns' lone bus company, ferries tourists from Cairns to the beach and vice-versa on a regular basis. The tourist can also try out the car leasing option offered in Cairns. Clifton Beach offers various selections of 1, 2 or 3 bedroom. These apartments are well-furnished with cable television and a balcony. The rate of accommodation stands at $120 a night. It has a shopping center, a couple of gasoline stations and a wine store. A day spent at Clifton beach is a day that is fun and worthwhile.
