Lake Morris Rd to Copperlode Dam is situated along the mountainous areas of Cairns in the northernmost section of Queensland. The 16-kilometer stretch takes tourists to an astounding view of the rain forest resting on the western section of Cairns City. Copperlode Dam, basically the depository of 45,460 mega liters of water, is almost 121 meters wide.
Lake Morris, on the other hand, has a surface area of 332 hectares. Its name was derived from its engineer, FR Morris, who initiated moves to construct a dam that will be the depository of water for nearby coastal areas. The dam that costs approximately $6.5 million was completed in March 1976. Today, the said site is among the protected areas of the World Heritage Convention.
