Old Town Alexandria’s MetroStage theater’s building near the Potomac River could become a multi-family housing development. The Washington Business Journal reports that developer Carr Cos. along with architect SK&I will present a proposed redevelopment of 1201 N. Royal St. to the Old Town North Urban Design Committee on June 6.

The plans are art-focused: besides the more than 90 multifamily units at 1201 N. Royal St, the concept includes artists lofts, art studios, an art gallery, and a “roof club.” Meanwhile, MetroStage is expected to move to Carr’s project at the former Crowne Plaza site.
