Outback and Gulf Savannah Attractions

The Outback and Gulf Savannah is host to attractions quite different to the beaches and tropical waters Far North Queensland is so well known for.

Mount Isa, the third biggest city on earth (in terms of land area) is very well known for the history of its mining activities. It is one of the few mines that allow people to tour its interesting underground corridors with chambers setup like museums.
Mount surprise is a tiny township that in addition to also being well known for its mining is visited for its relaxing hot springs and its fascinating 160km maze of lava tubes, created by volcanic eruptions many years ago. These tubes can actually be accessed via an educational tour.

When making your way through these towns of outback Queensland you'll soon realize that what they lack in population they make up for in heart, history and natural wonder.
