The Outback and Gulf Savannah: Places to Visit

The outback and Gulf Savannah is littered with towns of interest. These towns have rich, historical pasts and diverse natural landscapes. Many of the towns have been strongly influenced by their mining pasts with mines that still stand today and buildings and relics indicative of this time period.

Unique environments have been carved into the land by the areas volcanic history and fresh water oasis's established in isolated water holes and creeks. The land is also blessed with quiet rivers, mangroves and wetlands which host a variety of wild life on land, air and water. The area is extremely popular for its fish like barramundi and offers cruising and fishing tours as a result.

Though the attention is generally taken away by the Great Barrier Reef and the coast in general it seems there are some very unique reasons well worth visiting this Western region of Queensland.
